ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM OF RHODES

One of the most visited attractions of Rhodes, the Aquarium stands on the Cape of the Windmills at the northernmost edge of the island. It enjoys a landscape of stunning views, with the infinite azure of the sea as an inspired background for its Art-Deco architecture imagined by Italian architect Armando Bernabiti between 1934 and 1935. The Rhodes Aquarium serves both as a family-friendly tourist attraction and research center. It boasts several tanks with some 80,000 liters of filtered seawater, creating a safe habitat for a wide range of marine species from the Aegean Sea.

OTHER MONUMENTS

Rhodes combines a tapestry of architectural styles, monuments, and magnetic attractions. There’s a photo-op everywhere you turn, from the scenic Mandraki Harbor, onto the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Medieval City of Rhodes, and to the New Town. You’ll spend moments of bliss strolling down on narrow alleyways or walking in awe on the Street of the Knights, gazing at some of the monumental buildings, where the Knights Hospitaller immortalized some of the most intriguing pages of the history of the island in the 15th and 16th centuries.

Must-see sights will also include the old town walls, the Palace of the Grand Masters of the Knights of Rhodes, the Acropolis of Rhodes, La Juderia – the Jewish quarter, and Rodini Park – with all its freely roaming peacocks, among the many others.
Take time to snap pictures of the windmills in the harbor, of the city’s quaint squares that come alive with tourists every season, go shopping for souvenirs, or take in the hubbub of the town at a sidewalk café or in a taverna serving authentic fare while entertaining you with local music and dance.

NIGHTLIFE

Rhodes is a popular tourist destination, and as such, it has adapted to welcome night owls too. It has clubs and hipster bars, but it remains traditionally Greek at heart. In aproximity of Aquamare hotel, there is the town’s famed “bar street” for some of the hottest hangouts for modern beats and young crowds. There are also enough options for the most sophisticated party-goers and cocktail aficionados. Rhodes may be steeped in history, but its throbbing heart adapts quickly to modernity when it comes to good times and entertainment.
